Keith Haring was born in 1958 in Kutztown, Pennsylvania and died in 1990. Keith showed an interest in drawing and art at a young age. This lead him to pursue an education at the Ivy School of Professional Art for a short time and then finish his education at the School of Visual Arts.
While in New York he developed a profound interest in street art and the community, later befriending artists Kenny Scharf and Jean-Michel Basquiat. With inspiration from Pierre Alechinsky, Jean Dubuffet, Paul Klee, William Burroughs and Robert Henri, Haring decided he wanted to create true public art. He gained notoriety with street art that was complex, crazy, and jig-saw puzzle like.
