Jim Dine was born in 1935 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He began his art education at the Art Academy in Cincinnati where he grew up and moved on to the University of Cincinnati where he earned his B.F.A.

In 1959 he moved to New York where he collaborated with Allan Kaprow, Claes Oldenburg, and Robert Whitman after creating his art group, ‘Happenings’. His style followed that of abstract expressionism, through his utilization of attaching everyday objects to his art which shadowed that of the object.

His work is very popular and has been featured in the New York the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and the Metropolitan Museum.
