Russell Young was born in York, United Kingdom in 1959. Before painting, Russell studied photography and graphic design at the Chester Art College and started a career in which he largely portrayed famous figures in society. He later decided to move on to painting but most of his works weren’t available to the public at this time. In 2003 his portraits hit the public and everyone got a look at his incredibly popular acrylic and silk screen portraits depicting famous figures including Marilyn Monroe, Kate Moss and Marlon Brando. His reputation and amazing work has landed him in public collections including artists, Hollywood stars and Barack Obama.
